The word liberal has deservedly come to have a very bad meaning. Even liberals don't want to be known as liberals. Liberal means "immoral thief." Liberals are pro-abortion, pro-sodomy socialists, so that definition is accurate.
Liberals love to call conservatives "liberals" to put them down or to keep them from winning elections. On the other hand, liberals call themselves "progressives" or "conservatives." So, you can't go by what a person claims or is called.
1. Conservative
The word conservative has always meant to most Christian Americans "a person whose politics conforms to Christian principles." If ever the word "conservative" starts meaning something else, true Christians will part company with conservatives.
2. Fiscal Conservative
A fiscal conservative is one who supposedly believes in the economic principles taught in the Bible, but only because those principles work, not because they are taught by the Bible. All else that the Bible teaches they reject, even though all the other principles taught in the Bible work also.
3. Social Conservative
A "social conservative" accepts everything the Bible says. So, social conservatives are against abortion and sodomy because the Bible condemns them. But fiscal conservatives are pro-abortion and pro-sodomy because they don't care what the Bible teaches.
4. Phony Conservative
A fiscal conservative is actually just a liberal (humanist) on everything except finances. A fiscal conservative is therefore a phony conservative as far as Christians are concerned.
5. True Conservative
A person is a true conservative only to the degree that he or she accepts and lives by what God says in the Bible.
I read recently of a "conservative" writer who is a practicing homosexual. Sorry, but sodomy is not a trait of a true conservative. Other "conservative" opinion makers say or imply that smoking, drinking alcohol, listening to Rock music, using Viagra when they aren't married (and so shouldn't need it), lacing conversation with off-color jokes and profanity, etc., are what it means to be a conservative. Sorry, but those are liberal (humanist) traits, even if on other issues a person who does those things may be truly conservative.
I've noticed that the so-called fiscal conservatives hate the social (true) conservatives just as much as the liberals do, if not even more so. That is because they mistake wantonness for liberty---just as the liberals (which is what these phony conservatives really are) do. I'm reminded of
Psalm 2:1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
God's law is the "perfect law of liberty" (James 1:25 and 2:12), but the heathen (liberals) think it is bondage. "Liberty" to them is to be able to sin without consequences or criticism. But Jesus said that sin is slavery, and sin has consquences. Liberals hate those who tell them that "according to the Bible" their behavior is sinful and harmful.
John 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.
39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
The tension between conservative Jesus and the liberals of His day can be felt even today as those verses are read. Jesus made a difference between love and lust, lies and truth, children of God and children of the Devil. The liberals hated Him for this blunt truth, and plotted to kill Him.
6. Phony Social Conservative
The phony social conservative is the most dangerous phony because he or she will passionately claim to be against abortion and against same-sex marriage at times when that passionate claim doesn't really help much. But then just when it can do the most damage they do something to sabatage the conservative cause. For instance, some falsely-called social conservatives are at this very moment condemning Mike Huckabee (who has always consistently opposed abortion and same-sex marriage), and are supporting Mitt Romney (who was consistently radical pro-abortion and pro-sodomy in both profession and practice right up until the time he declared himself a Republican candidate for president). Go to The Mitt Romney Deception to find so much proof of Romney's liberal humanist conduct as governor that it will take you hours to examine it all. Liberal Republican presidential candidates know they can't get elected without the Christian vote, so they lie.
Other phony social conservatives are supporting Rudy Giuliani. Do a web search on "Rudy Giuliani dressed in drag" and determine for yourself if Rudy is a conservative. Morally, Rudy is even more embarrassing than Bill Clinton. Republicans who believe like Democrats are Democrats. Rudy and Mitt are in the wrong party.
7. Life and Morality Are More Important Than Money
A true conservative will have priorities in the proper order. Life is more important than the economy. The home is more important than the economy. Morality is more important than the economy. Money is not the only thing that matters. If children are murdered before they are born, that hurts the economy. The less people there are the worse the economy becomes---if there were no people there would be no economy. And no amount of money can repair the heartbreak and dispair caused by the breakdown of the home. And AIDS and a multitude of other STDs, being spread by abominable sodomites, are threatening to drain our economy dry.
If the economy---money---is all that matters to a "social" conservative, then he is a phony social conservative, and we need to quit being influenced by that liberal wolf in sheeps clothing.
Fiscal conservatives and phony social conservatives are saying that Huckabee is a liberal on the economy. I'm not convinced. He became governor of a state in great trouble financially, and left it very much in the black. It is the fact that he is a Christian and does not believe in evolution that they don't like.
8. Timely Questions For the Critics
Ask the phony social conservatives these two questions: (1) Do you believe in evolution? (2) Why do you support a candidate that has a pro-abortion, pro-sodomy track record, when you claim to be a social conservative? I think you will be surprised at the answers, especially to the evolution question. Watch them get angry and defensive. Ask that evolution question and you expose them for what they really are. Evolution is the worldview of humanism---it is the atheist's worldview.
Huckabee may not be right on everything---no one is perfect---, but he is more conservative than his critics and the other leading Republican presidential candidates by miles.
